sorry it's been awhile . . .

I realize that I have not updated the blog for a few weeks. There hasn't been a whole lot going on. I guess that can be good or bad. Good, in the fact that there was nothing crazy to report. Bad, in the fact that no changes have taken place.

Brent has had two more blood transfusions since my last post. He also had his first injection of Stelara. It is not a new drug, but it is not approved for Crohn's disease. Most insurance companies do not pay for it. The GI doc said that they have never had an insurance company approve it for Crohn's. Brent was the first. We are so very thankful for our insurance company. This one injection is a whopping $13,000! Yes, I did say $13,000, not $1,300. In my opinion, that is wrong on so many levels. Of course, if it works, then it is worth it's weight in gold, but $13,000??? That is just insane. The hope is that this new medicine will quiet the Crohn's, and then the blood loss will also be stopped. We can only hope. We do a lot of that.

Happy 4th of July! We are looking forward to our 25th annual 4th of July bash at our house. We get together every year, since we bought our home, with Brent's high school buddies and their families, and our family, and others over the years. It is always fun, with great food and the fireworks show after, in the back yard. These high school friends have become our family. Our kids have all grown up together and love each other like siblings. It has been a fun 25 yrs.
