Sorry for the lack of info on here. Life has a way of getting in the way sometimes.
The day I left for my Mom's funeral, Brent ended up having to have another drain put in due to another abscess. We are fairly certain that this abscess is NOT connecting to the intestine. It is an intra-abdominal abscess, which means it is a pocket of infection. After draining it, it really hasn't drained much at all. It cultured for a couple of pretty intense bugs, so now he is on yet another IV antibiotic as of tonight. We met with an infectious disease Dr. today, and he recommended vencomycin. Brent didn't do too well with that one before, so we are infusing it much slower this time to see if that helps. He is actually feeling much better this past week then he has in a while. He has been able to go into work most days. We will do another fistulagram next week to see if the pocket is diminishing.
He is starting on clear liquids again, in hopes of being able to eat again soon. :)
Kristina also met with her cardiologist while I was gone. Good news there. It is not her SVT returning, but a condition that often occurs after having the oblation that she had over a year ago. He thinks she will outgrow it. Bad news is that she for sure will not be running a marathon. She was in the middle of training for a full marathon when all this started. :( He told her she can start running again, but only short distances.
Thank you for your love and prayers this past week. My Mom's funeral went well, and it was so good to spend time with my family, some who I haven't seen for over 20 years. I am glad to be back home, but it's always hard to leave family behind.
More updates as they come.
