Today the Dr's told Brent that if all goes well tonight, and he keeps getting rid of some of the 30 lbs. of built up fluid, that he is on track to be released tomorrow. Brent say he feels like Wall-E, fat and just lazily sitting in his recliner. There are still no definitive answers as to what started all of this in the first place. Lots of theories, but cultures are still pending. If he comes home tomorrow it will be with IV antifungals for the suspected Cocci/Valley Fever in his lungs.
One theory of the initial fever and gut problems is that the Crohn's flare he was having while we also had Covid in May, and then treated the flare with high dose steroids, triggered the coccidioidomycosis or cocci that was hibernating in his lungs. The cultures take quite awhile so that hasn't been confirmed yet. None of the other theories have panned out either. We just shake our heads, the Dr's just shake their heads, and we write it off as, it's because he is who he is, and nothing is normal.
Many of you say that you appreciate a specific thing to pray for. I guess that would be that he has a good night, continues to lose the fluid buildup, and can safely come home without rebounding back in. We pray that eventually tests will confirm a real, treatable diagnosis.
As always, we love and appreciate you. We know that life deals all of us trials and extremely hard times. Our trials are your not trials, and visa versa, but they are all trials nonetheless.
