After a night of no sleep, we are hoping that tonight is much better. On Tuesday, Dr. Price changed the way that the large drain (Malecott) drains. He no longer wants it on suction, in the hopes that the intestine will begin to close off around the drain. Now it is connected to a bag and only uses gravity to drain. Brent spent all last night dry heaving (sorry for those of you that are faint at heart about such matters.) We are fairly certain that the reason he is so sick is that when he lays down the drain cannot drain, and the content backs up inside the intestine, causing the extreme nausea. Sooo, tonight he is sleeping either in the recliner or on the sofa propped up with pillows, in the hopes that the drain will drain, and the nausea will be non-existent. Please, please, please???? Neither one of us does well without sleep, but one of us has to be able drive if I need to get him up to Murray, and since he can't drive . . . yeah, you get the point. We need sleep.
We still go to wound care every other day at UVRMC, but that shouldn't be much longer as the midline incision is healing nicely. Hopefully just a couple of more weeks for the wound vac.
Other than today (being tired and sore), he is bored and would enjoy a short visit. Please call first, to make sure he is okay for visitors, and to make sure we are here.
Thanks,
Lisa
