Today we participated in our 3rd CCFA Take Steps Walk in Salt Lake City. It is a fundraiser walk for the Crohn's and Colitis foundation of America. Last year we went all out and had this huge charity yard sale where we earned over $1,000 thanks to our generous friends and neighbors who donated so many things. Our team, No Guts, Moore Glory, actually came in first place last year with the most donations, totaling over $3,000.
This year, however, we were too tired and too busy dealing with the awful effects of these stupid diseases that we did not do any fundraising. We weren't even sure we would be participating this year. Thanks to Brenda, Brent's sister, we were still able to raise well over $1,000 just from private donations. Our family and Brent's office, and Brenda's friends are amazing. We were not in first place this year, not by a long shot, but we are still in the top five. For those of you wondering why you weren't invited this year, it's because we didn't know if we would be going or not. Luckily Brent woke up feeling pretty good today. He didn't do the walk, but sat in a chair and carved while we walked.
There were only 7 of us this year, but it is still a worthy cause and a good time. Because of the donations last year, several children were able to attend Camp Oasis, which is a camp for children who have Crohn's or Ulcerative Colitis. I love that we can help make this happen. These diseases are hard enough to deal with as an adult, I can't imagine dealing with it as a child. The money also goes towards research towards a cure. Wouldn't THAT be awesome.
Thanks to everyone who donated to the cause. It was a beautiful day and great to be outside. Finally.
Brent is still just status quo. Still dealing with nausea for some unknown reason, so still not eating. He was able to go into the office for a little bit yesterday, which was nice. Associating with co-workers is good.
Tina is home for the summer, and Michelle comes home on Monday. The house won't be quiet any longer. :)
Thanks for your continued love and support and prayers.
