Well we finally have answers as to why the antibiotics haven’t been working. The cultures from the bronchoscope show E. coli. That’s a new one. Apparently you can get E. coli from aspiration which is what we know he did. E. coli is resistant to the zocyn which they’ve been treating him with. They just started a new antibiotic, meropenem which should take care of it. Hoping he shows improvement and that he can go home with the new antibiotic.
In our family we joke and laugh. The jokes have already started about this new diagnosis.
