Well, we are home, and minus one Malecott drain. Yay! AND, the surgeon did not cut open the incision. He couldn't find a stitch this time, so maybe, just maybe, it actually dissolved on its own. Can we really hope that something actually went right?
Now the fun begins. We have to watch the drain site, since it is actually a fistula that leads right to the intestine, and keep track of how much it drains. With hope, faith, luck, whatever, the intestine will seal itself off and things will heal.
Brent was sufficiently 'lubed' for this appointment, and didn't really feel a thing when the drain was removed. Woo-hoo! AND, since he didn't flinch or jump off the table, I, therefore, did not pass out. :) yes!
So, now we just watch things and keep an eye on fevers, maybe increase the diet a little bit, and pray fervently that nothing abscesses. Thank you for your thoughts, texts, and prayers today. We felt of your love and concern. As always, we are thankful for you.
